JUNIOR GOLF SPRING LEAGUE (March - June)

Our Spring golf league is designed for junior golfers ages 8-14 (grades 2-8) that have GOLF COURSE PLAYING EXPERIENCE and want to play on the course to compete in a team-friendly format. It is structured similar to other youth sports leagues in that players participate on a TEAM and compete against the other teams in the league. It is geared towards kids of most abilities and experience levels as long as they can maneuver on the course with little to no adult guidance.

The game format is a 2v2 Scramble Match Play (similar to PGA Jr. Leagues). The 2023 season featured 68 players separated amongst four teams that competed in six games and a season-ending Stroke Play Invitational. Games were played at the five county courses (Princeton CC, Mercer Oaks East/West, Hopewell Valley, and Mountain View) giving them exposure to various types of terrain and course layouts.

DETAILS

  • The season begins the week of March 18 with team practices. The first game will be held on Sunday, April 14th, 2024.

  • Individual team practices are held on a designated weeknight starting around 5:30pm and lasting for one hour. Each team practices one time per week. They are held at Princeton Country Club or Mercer Oaks. When registering, please indicate any weeknights that your child CANNOT practice.

  • Games are held on Sunday afternoons starting at 3 p.m. They are 9 holes and each individual player is guaranteed to play at least 6 holes. Games usually end by 6 p.m.

  • The Game format is a 2v2 Scramble Match Play (similar to a PGA Junior League).

  • During games, parent volunteers are needed to keep score and monitor pace of pace of play.  Families/Friends can also spectate but must remain on the paved cart path.

  • The season ends with a Stroke Play Invitational.  Coaches will select their top players (5-6 players/team) to compete in an individual stroke play format.

  • Teams are coached by Mercer County Golf Academy Staff.

  • Due to the nature of the league, instruction is given at a minimum...instead the purpose is for players to be exposed to the competitive side of golf in a team-friendly format.

  • Cost is $450 and includes participation in weekly practices (range balls during practice), greens fees for Games/Stroke Play Invitational, range balls before games, coaching by Mercer County Golf Academy Staff, team polo shirt, and an awards party (food, beverages, and trophies) at the end of the season.

  • Limited to 64 players
